Grades 6-8 First Edition (2012) Curriculum
Last Updated: February 3rd, 2021
As we move to a cohesive K-8 product and come up against product contracts/lifespan, we cannot host the 1st edition on our website indefinitely. We will officially 'sunset' Grades 6-8 First Edition (2012) from our website on (or after) August, 1st 2021.
The Grades 6-8 First Edition was created for New York State under the EngageNY project, originally designed and developed with a team of teachers in 2012. The second edition of grades 6-8 builds on learning from the first edition curriculum. It is the result of deep collaboration with teachers, students, and literacy experts.
Why is EL sunsetting first edition?
We are proud of our Grades 6-8 Second Edition (2019) Curriculum, we believe it is of higher quality and more supportive of teachers and students. It is also fully cohesive with the K-5 Curriculum. EL Education is unable to support updates to the 6-8 1st Edition curriculum (2012) which is owned by another organization (PCG). We want to focus resources on supporting our new edition.
Where should other questions about the content or product be directed?
Beginning August 1st, 2021, all Grades 6-8 First Edition (2012) questions should be routed to Wiley (contact info on How to Order Page). Wiley has staff on hand to route and respond to all types of content inquiries, including third-party content questions.
You can find contact information on our How to Order page.
Where can I order materials for first edition moving forward?
The EL Education-authored Grades 6-8 ELA Curriculum (2012) will continue to be offered as part of PCG Education's Paths to College and Career, available through Wiley Publishing.
