Microphases By Cycles

The K-2 Reading Foundations Skills Block begins instruction at the Late Pre-Alphabetic phase to encompass the CCSS standards in  Kindergarten. Students who place in the Early Pre-Alphabetic and or Middle Pre-Alphabetic microphase are, instructionally, at a pre-Kindergarten level.

Teachers should administer the phonological awareness assessment to determine discrete skills to work towards, in addition to practicing the "Skills to Practice and Master by Microphase"  section for the early and middle pre-alphabetic phase, in order to build grade-level proficiency.   Suggested activities for these pre-Kindergarten skills can be found in the Activity Bank after analyzing the assessment results (You can view the Activity Bank, a section of the Resource Manual found here).
